The former President Jerry John Rawlings has thrown yet another salvo this time at Ben Ephson the Chief Editor of the Daily Dispatch, saying “he is not a patriot nor a Ghanaian but works for the highest bidder.”
Contrary to perception that Mr. Ben Ephson is a fair, and objective, journalist, Mr. Rawlings said the Dispatch editor “used to and still works for western intelligence and not for Ghana.”
Mr. Rawlings further accused Mr. Ben Ephson of conspiring with others to topple his regime.
“He was the one who wrote a supposed coup speech on a toilet paper for Quashiega in our time when we caught up with him and arrested him, but he escaped to one of the Western Embassy’s Defence attaché’s house."
These comments were made on Tuesday, when members of the Greater Accra Wing of the Tertiary Education Social Network of the NDC, called on the first family at their Ridge residence.
The visit was to wish the Ex- president a belated happy birthday and a citation was presented to the first family by the students.
The scathing attack on Ephson could be said to be in reaction to a news item published in today’s edition of the Daily Dispatch with the head line “How Rawlings almost declared a state of emergency”
A story, Mr. Rawlings claim is “out right rubbish”
