The Bishop for Koforidua Diocese, Most Reverend Joseph Afrifa-Agyekum has charged five newly ordained priests to be cautious about the lives they lead after being ordained into priesthood.
Delivering the homily at the All Saints Catholic Church in Akim Oda, the cleric urged the ordained priests to not only be preachers of the word, but strive to emulate Jesus Christ on their new journey.

“My dear sons, you will follow and exercise the sacred duty of teaching in the name of Christ. Remember, teach by example.
“Meditating on the law of the Lord, make sure you believe what you preach and teach what you believe and overall, practice what you preach,” he advised on Saturday.

Most Reverend Afrifa-Agyekum further admonished the quintet not to make excuses to evade the path God has directed them.
He urged them to allow their body, soul, and spirit to be used by the Holy Spirit so as to speak what the Lord has commanded.

“The work of God is so important you should not be so concerned about earthly things. Jesus wants us to be committed to his mission. So as priests, you must be ready to serve and serve with humility and simplicity.
“It is very important. Focus and focus well on the task that the Lord has given to you, you will be able to make good decisions in your new position,” he stressed.

To continuing priests, the Bishop asked them to show the newly ordained ones the robes of the task ahead.
He said, “Help them. Show them the path to be good shepherds.”

On their part, the new priests pledged to obey the Bishop, his successors, and also legitimate superiors.
They also expressed immense gratitude to congregants for their support and requested more prayers to accomplish the task they have been charged with.

The priests who were ordained are; Reverend Fathers; Daniel Owusu-Brempong of St Francis of Assisi Parish, New Tafo; Anthony Botwe of St Mary Mother of God Parish, Akim Achiase; Gregory Owusu of St Paul Catholic Church, Anweam.
The others are; Sebastian Tuffour of the St John the Baptist Catholic Church, Akim Ofoase, and Emmanuel Selorm Amegbe.

The solemn ceremony united congregants, families and friends during the event. They celebrated the occasion with their loved ones who have begun a new phase of their lives.
