President of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Kurt Okraku, has called on Ghanaians to bury their reservations about the Black Stars and the technical team and rally behind the team.
His comments follow the revamping of the national team’s technical staff with the inclusion of a 75-year-old Technical Advisor, a psychologist and video analyst.
The changes in the Black Stars technical setup, had four new names joining the fray, while assistant coach Joseph Laumann has been dismissed.
The changes became necessary after the team failed to qualify for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).
Following the announcement, the FA President made a ‘special appeal’ for unity as the Black Stars shift their focus to the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.
“Let’s give our team our support. With the announcement of both the management committee of the Black Stars and a revamped technical team, it’s now our time to be truly Ghanaian and to get behind our team once again, with that singular ambition of bringing OUR team back to winning ways,” he wrote on social media.
“Ghana, our beloved country, has gone through this challenging period before, but by sticking together, we have always come out stronger.
“In humility, determination, and oneness, we have— and we will— bring smiles back to our people with your support. Let’s support our Black Stars with all our might. Our players need you! Our players need us. It is time!”
The Black Stars will regroup in March as they resume their 2026 World Cup qualifiers, with Chad and Madagascar in sight.
