The Western Regional Minister, Anthony Evans Amoah, has called the bluff of residents along the Cape Three Points and its surrounding communities who have threatened not to vote in the December polls because the government has reneged on its promises. The Minister told Joy News, the people should rather be grateful to the government for the little development it has executed in the area. He explained, appreciating the little things done by the government would encourage it to undertake more development projects for them. “It is true that the government said the roads would be tarred,” but he said: “It is not true that government has not provided them with any amenities.” Mr. Amoah debunked the residents’ claims and challenged them to survey around the region to value what the government has achieved so far. He, however noted, government cannot accomplish everything at the same time, and reminded them that everything is being done “step-by-step”. He said the government has not neglected them and gave the assurance that their concerns would be addressed very soon. The residents have accused the government of failing to provide schools, hospital, roads, electricity and other facilities in spite of the many promises made to them before the last elections. The Member of Parliament for Ahanta West, Samuel Johnfiah conceded concerns raised by the residents and reiterated that the government is working around the clock to solve their problems. He said all impediments, like limited financial resources, which hindered works on the roads, have been cleared for works to start. Mr. Johnfiah said the communities without electricity would be connected to the national electricity grid. He cautioned residents to rescind their decision that they will not vote. He said failure to vote will allow people to choose the wrong person for them.
