Team news, manager quotes, match facts, and more ahead of the Champions League clash between Bayern Munich and Porto.
TEAM NEWS
Bayern's hopes of turning the tie around have been hampered by a string of injury absences, with Arjen Robben (abdominal muscle tear), David Alaba (knee ligament tear), Javi Martinez (knee), Medhi Benatia (muscle problem) and reserve goalkeeper Tom Starke (ankle) all ruled out.
France winger Franck Ribery is also highly unlikely to recover from an ankle injury in time to play, while.Germany captain Bastian Schweinsteiger, who rejoined training on Monday, faces a race against time to be fit. On-loan Barcelona winger Cristian Tello (hamstring tear) is Porto's only first-team player ruled out through injury but Brazilian full-backs Danilo and Alex Sandro are both banned.
Casemiro, another Brazilian international, received treatment to his left thigh on Friday but was able to train over the weekend.
MANAGER QUOTES
Pep Guardiola: "People do not know how difficult our [injury] situation is. I will never in my life forget these months and I am proud of the team. Now we have on Tuesday the most important Champions League game. It will of course be difficult but this is our big goal. I am completely convinced that my players will take their chances. I know which club I am at and know that (league) champions and cup winners is not enough. Only the treble is enough."
Julen Lopetegui: "I am expecting a superb Bayern team, regardless of who they will end up playing and we are prepared for what will happen. We need to put everything we have planned into practice. It will be a very difficult task but we will try to find simple answers. We like the idea of playing Bayern, who are one of the best teams in the world. We cannot think about what could happen, we must focus on the game tomorrow and try to give the answer on the pitch."
