The Spokesperson of the Vice President, Dr Gideon Boako, has dismissed reports that Dr Mahamudu Bawumia’s convoy has been involved in a "deadly" accident on the road that links Buipe to Tamale.
He said the Vice President and the government delegation that attended the funeral of former Aviation Minister, Joseph Kofi Adda, are safe.
Dr Boako explained that “a vehicle in the advance team of security that usually goes ahead of the Vice President, unfortunately, got involved in an accident on their way to Tamale some three days ago.”
This follows earlier widespread reports suggesting Dr Bawumia’s convoy crashed at Kablipe, a village near Buipe, on Friday night.
The driver of the vehicle was said to have died instantly, while the others who sustained some injuries are currently on admission.
It was also indicated that the advance team veered off the main road and ran into some wood lots.
But the Office of the Vice President has said the circulated reports are misleading.
