The communications director of the Akufo Addo campaign team Arthur Kennedy says the interest of the rank and file of the party will be taken into consideration, in selecting a vice presidential candidate of the party.
His comments come in the wake of dissenting opinions from party bigwigs’, including Kennedy Agyapong, after Governor of the Bank of Ghana Alhaji Mahamdou Bawumia was widely speculated to be in pole position for the slot.
Kennedy Agyapong Member of Parliament for the Assin North Constituency said he would not campaign for the party if Alhaji Bawumia or Dr. Ibn Chambas was selected.
"We take the comments of Kennedy Agyapong very seriously and will be be taken into consideration in our final selection." Dr. Kennedy remarked
Dr. Kennedy said the decision of who partners Nana Addo has not yet been made, even though he admits Deputy Governor of the Bank of Ghana is being considered.
Speaking to JOY FM’s Dzifa Bampoe on News night Arthur Kennedy could not confirm whether, Alhaji Bawumia is a card bearing member of the NPP, but said his values and principles of free market were in tandem with that of the party.
He said Nana Addo Danquah Akufo Addo will take the competence, compatibility, acceptability, and marketability of the candidate before making his declaration.
Else where a group calling itself the concerned NDC youth in Tamale has cautioned the NPP to desist from mentioning Dr. Ibn Chambas as their possible vice presidential candidate.
The spokes person of the group Musah Wahil said Dr. Chambas is still a card bearing member of the NDC and any attempt to draft him into the vice presidential controversy, amounted to tarnishing his reputation.
