Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia will be the Special guest of this year’s Agri-Ted mentorship session which will be held in Accra.
He will mentor 70 agricultural students and beginner agribusinesses, as part of the opening event activities, of the annual Agricultural Students’ Career Guidance & Mentorship Dialogue-Bootcamp.
The Vice President will be speaking on the Theme; “Digitalization-The Enabler, The Game Changer, and The future for the Agri-Youth”, at the Jubilee House on March 28, 2022.
With increasing discussions on Ghana, becoming one of the most digitized economies in Africa, the Vice President’s mentorship session is expected to give an in-depth understanding and appreciation of the digital trends, and how they can influence the career paths of the mentees, in the field of Agribusiness.
Addressing the media in Accra, the Executive Director of Agrihouse Foundation, Alberta Nana Akyaa Akosa said the program started five years ago with eight schools and can now boast of twenty-eight universities including agricultural colleges and second cycle institutions.
According to her, the success story of the program is that some of the companies which come to mentor and coach participants employ some of the participants because of a display of creativity and innovation skills.
Touching on Vice President’s mentorship session, Alberta Akosa explained that Dr Bawumia is passionate about digitalisation so mentoring them on digitization will have a massive on the growth of agribusiness in the country.
This edition has been described as special because participants will be mentored by the Vice President at the Jubilee house.
Ms Akosa paid a glowing tribute to the management of OCP Ghana which has been supporting Agrihouse from the beginning of the program.
She was of the view that some of the participants could get an opportunity to do internships at the University in Morocco through an initiative of OCP Ghana.
Touting her achievement Ms Akosa disclosed that a total number of 12,500 have benefited from various agribusiness training schemes.
