The New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has announced a live broadcast set for Sunday, November 10, 2024, focused on engaging parents and students nationwide about his vision for the future of Ghana’s education system.
Dr. Bawumia's address will highlight his commitment to sustaining and enhancing key educational initiatives, especially the Free Senior High School (Free SHS) and Free Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) programmes.
Both programmes have become central to Ghana's educational framework, and Bawumia is expected to outline strategies for their continuation and expansion.
Aware of the financial hurdles that often prevent students from pursuing higher education, Dr. Bawumia plans to discuss his proposals for expanding access to tertiary education.
He aims to ensure that no Senior High School graduate is left behind due to cost barriers, reinforcing his goal of an inclusive educational path for all Ghanaian youth.
In addition to this upcoming education-centred broadcast, Dr. Bawumia recently met with Ghanaian youth on Sunday, November 3, 2024, to address their top concern—unemployment.
During the session, he shared his approach to creating job opportunities and reducing unemployment, promising targeted initiatives for job creation if elected.
The event will also feature Ghana’s Minister of Education, Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum, who is set to deliver a detailed presentation on behalf of Dr. Bawumia. Dr. Adutwum's segment will focus on the NPP’s commitment to Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) education, highlighting how STEM is crucial for equipping Ghana’s youth with skills needed in an increasingly technological world.
Together, Dr. Bawumia and Dr. Adutwum aim to communicate a clear, forward-looking vision for education in Ghana, showing how these initiatives will prepare the youth for future job markets and global opportunities.
Through these engagements, Bawumia seeks to strengthen his connection with both parents and students as he outlines his party’s priorities for Ghana’s future.
