The Vice President, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia organised a New Year celebration for some of society's most vulnerable individuals—the cured leprosy patients from the Weija Leprosarium community of the Greater Accra Region.
On Wednesday, January 1, 2025, Dr Bawumia hosted the event at his official residence in Accra, where hundreds of cured leprosy patients, along with their guardians, family members, and friends, gathered.
The event provided an opportunity for Dr Bawumia to reaffirm his commitment to supporting cured leprosy patients and improving their living conditions.
Over the years, he has demonstrated his dedication to helping these individuals by ensuring they benefit from the Livelihood Empowerment Against Poverty (LEAP) programme and providing them with essential items, including food and other necessities.
The event brought smiles to the faces of the cured leprosy patients, who expressed their gratitude to the outgoing Vice President and wished him the best in his future endeavours.
