The flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has revealed that his plan to train one million young people in digital skills will include 5,000 youth from the Kwadaso Constituency.
This initiative is designed to provide participants with skills like coding, enabling them to engage in remote work from home.
Addressing a crowd at a constituency connect event in Kwadaso, Dr Bawumia outlined the policy as a pivotal strategy for job creation.
He emphasised that the programme will empower young people by equipping them with the technical expertise needed in today’s digital economy.
Dr. Bawumia expressed confidence that the initiative would be a “game changer” for employment opportunities in Ghana.
He highlighted the transformative potential of digital skills training in providing sustainable jobs and supporting economic development.
“The youth need skills. We’ve introduced technical and vocational training, but they also need digital skills, as the world has shifted to digital."
“From right here in Kwadaso, one can work for companies in the US, Canada, and Singapore. Even school dropouts can be trained."
“My goal is to have at least one million people trained in digital skills, starting with five thousand youth from Kwadaso Constituency. This way, they can stay here and still work internationally.”
