In comments reported by Marca, Barcelona president Joan Laporta today countered Inter coach Jose Mourinho's comments that Barca were "obsessed" with reaching the Champions League final and called the Portuguese coach a "second-rate psychologist".
"[The final] is an objective we have, and we intend to progress through the semi-final to the final and win it. That is our ambition. We are not obsessive and whomever wants to attribute us with that quality is a second-rate psychologist," said Laporta in comments referencing the Special One.
But despite the team's lofty ambitions, Laporta implored the fans to give the Blaugrana squad an ovation not matter what the outcome of this evening's match. "I believe this team deserves it. This team has assured that they will bring a winning mentality and give everything. They will leave their skins on the pitch. Whatever happens, the coach and players deserve a great ovation at the end of the match."
Finally, Laporta addressed the presence of former Barca player Luis Figo on the Inter bench. "Figo is well received as an Inter representative. If Inter wish to have him on the bench, we have nothing to say. I ask for respect from the Blaugrana fans."
