Abdul Malik Kweku Baako wants the Director-General of the Criminal Investigations Department (CID), COP Tiwaa Addo-Danquah, changed over her latest comment regarding the kidnapped Takoradi girls.
The Editor-in-Chief of the New Crusading Guide newspaper considers as shameful, the statement by Maame Tiwaa Addo-Danquah that her comments that they knew the whereabouts of the girls, was to give “hope” to the police.
“We know where the girls are,” COP Addo-Danquah told reporters at a news conference called by her on April 2.
She refused to give further details but gave the assurance that her officers were working to reunite the girls with their families.
In what appears to be a sudden U-turn, the CID boss -- who could be the next Inspector-General of Police -- feels her comments have been misinterpreted.
"Maybe people did not understand me well," she said in the local language on Atinka TV on Mothers’ Day.

Speaking Saturday on Newsfile on JoyNews TV and Joy FM, Kweku Baako described the CID boss’ latest comment as unfortunate and heartbreaking.
Baako, who said he was one of the those who defended the CID boss while she was being criticised for disclosing the girls’ location, agreed to calls for her to render a public apology for the howler.
“She can apologise but they should find ways to redeploy her in the same system,” the veteran journalist stated.
Describing COP Addo-Danquah as one of the few females in the service who have had a brilliant career route, Baako said it was unfortunate that “she is trapped in this whole credibility crisis [or] challenges.”
“It’s so unfortunate,” he added.
