The Ghana Football Association has debunked claims that the Black Stars coach has neglected his duties and is failing to execute crucial parts of his contract.
Many pundits have questioned why Avram Grant is not in charge of the local Black Stars who failed to make next year's CHAN tournament slated for Rwanda.
Grant is also accused of failing to watch talents in Ghana Premier league, with the local media pointing fingers to the Ghana FA for failing to ensure the best of Grant is felt by Ghanaians.
However spokesperson Ibrahim Sannie Daara, in an interview with Joy Sports, insisted Grant is not at fault. "Avram is working, a few days ago he was adjudged the best African coach in London. A lazy coach won't get that."
"Just few months ago after taking the team, he won silver at the 2015 African Cup of Nations in 30 days."
"When he took over the team the Black Stars were leaking goals in every game. That record has improved, for me I don't see him as a lazy coach. Yes we might have issues with him not staying in the country for that long, but that doesn't mean he is a lazy coach.
"At the moment he is in Europe monitoring players, a lazy person won't achieve such successes," Sannie noted.
It will be recalled that Ghana FA President Kwasi Nyantakyi while announcing Grant’s appointment hinted added tasks of organizing coaching clinics for local coaches and paying attention to grass root football development in the country.
However checks indicate none of these have taken place. He’s barely been in the country in almost a year of taking over the reins from erstwhile coach Kwasi Appiah.
Fans took to social media accounts to ask of the whereabouts of the Israeli Trainer in the build up to Ghana's first 2017 Africa cup of Nations qualifier against Mauritius in Accra and Grant had some pretty petulant, straight to the point answers.
Avram Grant is expected to take charge of the Black Stars in coming days for the 2018 World Cup qualifier against the Comoros Islands.
