Archbishop Nicholas Duncan-Williams has cautioned the youth against spending too much time on social media.
According to him, every young person needs to avoid excessive social networking to be able to make significant strides in life.
Addressing thousands of youth gathered on the first day of the 2019 International Youth Empowerment Summit (IYES) at the National Theatre, Archbishop Duncan-Williams said social media is a distraction.
‘‘If you want to accomplish anything in life, go off social media. Facebook, Twitter, Snapchat…get out of all these stuff. They are all distractions’’, he advised.
In the view of the founder of Action Chapel International, such networking platforms are for old people who don’t have anything more to accomplish.
‘Those things…they are for old people…80 and 90-year-olds who have finished everything they want to do in life that they have nothing to do. Then they stay there and they are chatting…Those of your age, you have no time’, he warned.
Archbishop Nicholas Duncan-Williams also urged Christians to spend more time studying the Bible and working for God rather than interacting on social media.
The 2019 International Youth Empowerment is scheduled from August 21- August 23 with a morning and evening session each day.
Day one had speakers including CEO of the National Youth Authority (NYA), Emmanuel Asigiri, C.E.O of National Entrepreneurship and Innovations Plan (NEIP), John A. Kumah, Lawyer Justin Koduah, Sampson Amoateng and Brian Amoateng.
Joy Prime’s Kleff Maxwell Justice (KMJ) served as Master of Ceremony (MC) on the first day.
Samira Bawumia, the wife of Ghana’s Vice President, is expected to climax the 2019 edition of the event with her speech.
Rev. Eastwood Anaba, Dr Kofi Abban, Amma Frimpomaa Dwumah, Bola Ray, Zanetor Rawlings, Chioma Akpotha will speak on Thursday and Friday.
International Youth Empowerment Summit (IYES) 2019 is powered by Hitz FM and Joy Prime.
