The world woke up to the news on Thursday of the trial by the senate and subsequent impeachment of President Fernando Mendes Luga of Paraguay. The Paraguayan Senate voted 39-4 Friday to dismiss Lugo, 61, a little more than a year before his five-year term was to end. Legislators quickly swore-in the vice president, Federico Franco, a medical doctor and a former supporter of Mr. Lugo, as Paraguay’s new leader. Across the Atlantic, the ruling National Democratic congress in Ghana held a crunch meeting to strategize towards the upcoming elections in December, and to find ways of marketing their candidate in the December elections. Why they decided to hold such a crucial meeting when the candidate to be marketed himself was out in the United States on medical grounds leaves much to be desired. Could it be that some invisible hands at work are up to something else beyond what meets the eye? Or the candidate’s input lacks value in terms of quality that going ahead with the meeting without him made absolute sense? Or the ravenous and lupine nature of the foxes, hyenas, wolves and the cheaters wearing human forms have in their political chess game sensed a situation in the future that makes the candidate inconsequential? Both Presidents, Atta Mills and Fernando Luga harnessed the positive waves that religion generates in courting votes on their way to winning elections, and coincidentally all were elected in 2008. Fernando Luga being a former catholic priest and a defender of the poor and landless (Paraguay having of one of the world’s most unfair land distribution system, where 2% of the population own 98% of the land), Atta Mills on the other hand not only used religion to reach the heart and minds of the electorate, he was touted as the “Asomdwiehene” or the King of Peace and took a fierce anti-corruption stance; who will not only fight corruption, bring justice to the families and groups who have lost family leaders and friends through injustice but also stop the profligate and ostentatious lifestyle of government officials, which he so vigorously campaigned against. As it turned out, both ‘men of God’ (I will not call them religious pretenders, no I won’t) had some huge skeletons, whose sizes dwarfs those of the dinosaurs in their closets. Mr. Luga’s popularity had already been damaged by paternity claims from his time as a bishop. He admitted in 2009 to fathering one child with a former parishioner, and this month he acknowledged that he was the father of another child, a 10-year-old boy, from a different liaison. Mentioning that the only child President Mills has, was out of marriage is not important for this piece. Like President Luga, the closet of President Mills was opened once he assumed the presidency. President Mills has conveniently glossed over corrupt acts by members of his government, save subtle cover-up maneuvering whenever there was a public outcry against such acts. One of his first acts as Presidents was to give a deadline to his appointees to declare their assets to which they have ignored with bigoted contempt up until this day. On his watch, a grand cover-up scheme in a corruption case involving one of his party’s financiers was hatched. Talk about one of his ministers who through irregular expense which brought about the infamous EDITH ZINEYUELA, KHEBAB and PAMPERS Saga, as punishment, he was only relieved of his position as a minister, only for him to be later rewarded with a nomination to the African Parliament. In the Paraguayan case as pointed out earlier, it was Fernando Luga’s Vice president who led the charge against him. And Federico Franco has been sworn in as president since the impeachment. When the ravenous and lupine natured of the foxes, hyenas, wolves and cheaters wearing human forms began scheming, jostling and preparing for a post President Umaru Yar’Adua scenario in Nigeria, they were chiefly orchestrated by members of the president’s party, the PDP. For months, the health status of the President was kept as a top secret and even when he returned to Nigeria, vigorous campaigns to keep the public in the dark and deceive them about his health status was rolled out and I remember the then Vice president, Goodluck Jonathan on BBC saying he has not been allowed access to his boss. All these orchestrations were the work of those invisible hands. The story was not different in Malawi after the death of President Bingu wa Mutharika where some people sought to take advantage of the President’s death and subvert the constitution. President Joyce Banda on BBC later thanked all those patriotic Malawians whose actions saved the constitution. Could it be that ravenous and lupine natured foxes, hyenas, wolves and cheaters wearing human forms in the government of President Mills are up to do what the “PDP Mafia” in Nigeria sought to do when they realized Yar’Adua had reached a point of no return on his medical condition or could they be doing what the invisible hands sought to do after the demise of Bigu wa Mutharika in Malawi? Or could it be that the ravenous and lupine natured foxes, hyenas, wolves and cheaters wearing human forms in the government of President Mills are up to do what Fernando Luga’s Vice President has done to him? One of the government's sponsored Newspapers (THE INFORMER) had an interesting editorial and quote just a paragraph ''The Castle doom-mongering prophets, believe Ghana was going to experience Nigeria's Musa Yar'Adua's debacle and whispered this through the secret mega-phones, loud and clear into the opponents quarters for onward relay to the cacophonous media which pounced on same without cross-checking the fact". What is happening? Are the two presidents, ATTA MILLS and FERNANDO LUGA TWINS of FATE??? Both sold out by their…
