Mr Anthony Abledu, Akatsi District Chief Executive has stressed the need for district assemblies to collaborate with the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE) to intensify public education on the National Identification System (NIS).
This, he said, would not only assist communities to understand the concept, but would also enable the people to embrace the exercise when it takes off.
Addressing parents, teachers and pupils of Covenant Preparatory School during its Open Day at Torve, near Akatsi, Mr Abledu tasked the Assemblies and the NCCE to attach great importance to the NIS programme and ensure that the concept was fully explained to the populace.
The DCE also urged the media to assist the two organisations in their bid to educate the people on the NIS and advised Ghanaians to provide accurate data about themselves during the exercise.
Prince Alfred Obikyere, who founded the School, which currently has an enrolment of 1,200 students, said it started 12 years ago at Tefle in the South Tongu District with 14 pupils.
Prizes were awarded to deserving pupils.
