The man accused of leading an attack on JoyNews Photojournalist and some sanitation officers from the Accra Metropolitan Assembly, has refused to honour police invitation.
James Addo, popularly known as Zola, is said to be the Assemblyman at Mantse Agbona, where the team had taken the #JoyCleanGhanaCampaign to, Wednesday, September 12. The campaign team is made up of journalists, security officers, Public Health authorities and sanitation officers.
They were at Mantse Agbona, a suburb of Accra to ensure that public health and safety were not being compromised in that community.
Attempts to cover-up a scene of food meant for sale stored at the same place as dustbin and public latrine, led to a scuffle, resulting in the heckling of a Photojournalist, David Andoh.
“The Assemblyman came with his men and they were struggling to take the camera from me. So there was a struggle and somebody slapped me from behind,” David Andoh narrated on the Super Morning Show on Joy FM, Thursday.
The Accra Mayor, Mohammed Adjei Sowah described the incident as “unfortunate.”
The Jamestown Police subsequently invited James Addo on Wednesday to assist with investigations into the case but he did not honour the request.
According to Superintendent Samuel Odame since the option of invitation failed, Supt. Samuel Odame his outfit has secured criminal summons from the court and same has been served on the Assembly.
“Once we invite you to assist in investigations and you decide not to honour it then we have no option than to believe the allegations against you and then proceeds to have criminal summons served on you,” he told Bernice Abu Baidoo Lansa on News Desk on JoyNews TV.
He said should James Addo fail “to make an appearance on Monday [September 16], the next step is to ask the court for a Bench Warrant. Once you decide to disrespect the law the full force of the law will come at you to get you apprehended.”
