An aspiring Member of Parliament for Tafo Constituency has appealed to stakeholders to convert abandoned Affordable Housing Projects in his constituency into isolation centres to help in the fight against Covid-19.
As cases of patients testing positive for Covid-19 are on the rise, the aspirant, Sahmudeen Mohammed Kamil suggests that, for example, the Asante-Mampong affordable housing project in the Ashanti Region could be one of the converted facilities.
Speaking to Joy News, he said, “we have affordable housing at Ayigya. We can use the facility as an isolation centre or a quarantine centre.”
He made the appeal at a handing over ceremony where he donated Veronica buckets and hand sanitisers to a hospital in the area.
He also urged government to protect the frontlines by supplying them with PPEs to halt the spread to fellow health workers, as some have tested positive for Covid-19.
“We’ve heard in the media that about four doctors and some nurses have been infected with this disease.
"They are at the frontline so we must at all costs try to protect them by supplying them with the PPEs,” he said.
