The Asogli State has begun preparations towards the celebration of this year's Yam Festival.
At the early hours of Friday, patriotic citizens of the area were seen tidying up streets in the Ho township and other communities.
A statement released to the GNA requested all Christians within the jurisdiction of the State to observe a weeklong fasting and prayer from Sunday September 2 through to September 9 for the month long celebrations.
The festival is celebrated every year to thank God for his protection, good harvest and to promote family reunion to enhance the socio-economic development of the State.
The most interesting and most attended programmes according history, the hailing of Yam (Teyuyru) and the grand durbar will take place on September 21 and 29 respectively.
Other activities for the celebrations include; health walk, football matches, bicycle race, cooking contest, mini durbars, public lectures and a gospel rock show among others.
