Regional Airlines, ASKY has introduced its new Boeing 737-800 aircraft on its major routes including Ghana to provide improved services to passengers in the wake of growing competition.
The new Boeing 737-800 aircraft which ASKY took delivery of in December comes with a capacity of 154 seats. It is configured in two classes which are made of 16 Business class seats and 138 Economy class seats.
The introduction of this larger capacity aircraft according to the Country Manager for ASKY, Worlanyo Afazinu will strengthen the airline’s network by offering more capacity, more frequencies and improve connectivity on the continent.
This according to the Country Manager falls in line with growing call by various African heads to state for Airlines to make effort to offer direct services within the continent to reduce travel time as well as the cost of travel within the continent.
Mr Afadinu explained the introduction of the new aircraft will bring a significant reduction in flight time within the entire airline’s network which includes Ghana, Ndjamena, Bangui, Kinshasa, Ouagadougou, Niamey, Abuja with daily frequency. Whereas Brazzaville will increase to four weekly flights while Cotonou will increase to three weekly flights.
The introduction of the new Boeing 737-800 reinforces the current fleet of ASKY which includes one Bombardier Dash 8 (Q400), five Boeing 737-700 and two Boeing 737-800.
