Asiedu Nketia urges Muslims to remain with NDC

The National Chairman of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), Johnson Asiedu Nketia, has urged the Muslim community (Zongo) to stand firm in their allegiance to the party, emphasising that the party is their true home.

He said by voting for the NDC in the upcoming December polls, they would not be voting for its flagbearer, former President John Dramani Mahama and the various Parliamentary candidates but would be voting for their own protection and equal treatment as Ghanaian citizens.

Mr Nketia made the call on Friday, October 11, 2024, while addressing a durbar of people at Ziorme, Aflao during his campaign visit to Ketu South.

He asked people in the Zongos not to be deceived but to know that the party that cared about them was the NDC and not the ruling New Patriotic Party.

“This vote for NDC is a vote for yourself; a vote for your independence; a vote for your dignity; a vote for your treatment as equal citizen of Ghana; a vote to allow you and your children to benefit from any government opportunity and receive equal share like any other citizen of Ghana.

“If you decide to vote otherwise, you have decided to enslave yourself,” Mr Nketia rallied.

Member of Parliament and NDC Parliamentary candidate for Ketu South, Madam Abla Dzifa Gomashie, thanked her constituents for their love, dedication and loyalty to the NDC over the years.
She highlighted the NDC’s commitment to social democratic ideals and people-centred policies and urged the people to let the prevailing economic hardship, social injustice, massive corruption and other ills in the country guide them in their choice on December 7, to give the NDC a resounding victory.

Key speakers at the rally, attended by NDC Volta Regional Executives, including Mr Mawutor Agbavitor and Mr James Gunu, the Chairman and the Secretary respectively, as well as other party functionaries, underscored the need for citizens to see the December polls as communal labour to deliver victory to the NDC to save and reset Ghana on the right track.

Some members of the crowd that Ghana News Agency spoke to, reaffirmed their loyalty to the NDC and pledged to work together towards its victory, saying, the rising prices of food like beans were no longer funny and that things had to change for the better.
