A former Bishop of Kumasi Diocese of the Methodist Church has urged Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, to commit to further progress of the Ashanti Region.
Rev Nuh Ben Abubakar said despite the Asantehene's achievements over his 20-year reign, there is more to accomplish.
He spoke at a special service at St. Cyprians’ Anglican Church to mark Otumfuo’s 69th birthday which fell on Monday.

In attendance were the Vice President, Dr Mahmud Bawumia, and other government functionaries and representatives of the opposition NDC.
Other dignitaries and representatives from other countries were present to share the day with the Asantehene.
Members of Asanteman Traditional Council were also present.
A rendition of a happy birthday song by the renowned keyboardist, Alfred Addaquaye, was enough to set the King and all present in the birthday mood.

In his sermon, Rt. Rev. Nuh-Ben Abubakr praised the King for his achievements but encouraged him to focus on future prospects.
“Although you have done a lot for Asantemen and Ghana, the advice is that you forget what you have achieved so far and continue to move forward towards the goal; the goal of making Ashanti a model traditional state,” he said.
Speaking on behalf of the Asantehene, Mamponghene, Daasebre Osei Bonsu thanked all for helping lift the image of the Golden Stool.
A cake was cut as part of the celebration.
