A three-member committee has been appointed by the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, to investigate the affairs of his club, Kumasi Asante Kotoko, under the tenure of Executive Chairman, Dr Kwame Kyei.
The committee will be chaired by Dean of the Faculty of Law at the Kwame Nkrumah of Science and Technology, Professor Lydia Nkansah with assistance from Mr Kofi Owusu, Registrar, Ashanti Regional House of Chiefs and legal practitioner Lawrence Bruce Kyei.
The committee has one month to submit its report, according to a press release signed by Manhyia Palace Chief of Staff, Kofi Badu.
The committee is expected to investigate among other things, the $240,000 fine which was imposed on the club by the world football governing body, FIFA. The fine has been settled.
The Manhyia Palace last week confirmed Dr Kwame Kyei had submitted the report of his stewardship for the past three years to the palace.
The business mogul was appointed in November 2016. Under his guidance, Kotoko qualified for the group stage of a CAF inter-club competition for the first time in 10 years.
They won the 2017 MTN FA Cup following a resounding 3-1 victory over arch-rival Hearts of Oak in the final.
