Ghana captain Asamoah Gyan has expressed satisfaction with his first season in the Chinese Premier League.
Gyan who completed a mega deal to Shangai SIPG from UAE side Al Ain in July returned to Ghana on Tuesday.
The 29 year old was heavily criticized for lowering his standards by playing in relatively unknown leagues.
Gyan who scored four goals in ten matches despite battling with knee injuries has described his first season in China as very successful.
“The season was alright, I got to Shangai with an injury but i think i was lucky because my performance was alright,” he told Joy Sports
The fans and my teammates were happy with my performance and although i wasn’t 100 percent fit i tried to do what i know to do best
At the end of the day we finished second on the league and sometimes when you are not fit it is really difficult but i was able to help the team.
Gyan’s team Shangai SIPG will play in the Asian Champions League next season after finishing second to Guanzhou Evergrande with just two points separating them on the league log.
