Samuel Okine, a mason, was slapped with a fine of GH¢600 on Wednesday for stealing his uncle’s GH¢100 by a District Magistrate Court at Awutu.
The Court, presided over by Mr Kofi Ahiabor, ordered that GH¢200 out of the amount should be given to Daniel Narh who sustained injuries on his lips after he was pushed by the accused against a parked vehicle.
Prosecuting, Police Inspector Emmanuel Ofori told the court that the GH¢100 was the cost of rent Narh paid to Okine to be given to the uncle, a house owner.
Inspector Ofori said the uncle ejected the tenant for not receiving the money. Later when asked of the money, Okine asked both the uncle and Narh to accompany him to Accra where he kept the money.
Inspector Ofori said Narh fearing that the accused would bolt, he held him and in the process the Okine pushed Narh against a parked vehicle, thereby, causing the injuries on the lips.
Okine was arrested after a report was made to the police.
