A Medical Specialist, Dr. Arthur Kwabena Kennedy has said too many Ghanaians are drinking themselves to death.
Dr. Kennedy who is also a lecturer at the University of Cape Coast says in just four months in the country, he has seen more cases of Alcoholic Liver disease than he did in 15 years of practice in American hospitals.
He said excessive consumption of alcohol affects the country in diverse ways.
“There are neuro-psychiatric problems, it affects families, it leads to domestic violence, it leads to poor performance at work, it leads to motor vehicle accidents,” he catalogued.
Dr Kennedy said the problem is even more serious because parents who drink are most likely to bring up their children to be drunkards. “So we are going to have alcoholics, giving birth to alcoholics and their grandchildren being alcoholics as well,” he regretted.
