President of the Ghana Football Association, Kwasi Nyantakyi has confirmed Arsenal midfielder Emmanuel Frimpong wants to play for Ghana after turning down the opportunity to feature for England.
Frimpong, who recently broke into the Arsenal first team, was born in England to Ghanaian parents.
Nyantakyi says he is in constant talk with the 19-year-old who is eager to make an impression in the Black Stars.
The CAF Executive Committee member told JOY Sports, “We have tried to encourage him to consider playing for Ghana in the near future. Just around the corner, there was a call up for him to play for the under-21 team of England.”
He added that, “Notwithstanding the invitation and even featuring for England at that level, he still has the opportunity to play for the Black Stars so it is too early to call it off and for anybody to think all is lost for Ghana.”
Emmanuel Frimpong was dropped from the Black Satellites team ahead of their historic U-20 world title triumph two years ago after he failed to impress the technical team.
