New Patriotic Party (NPP) stalwart Madam Elizabeth Ohene has expressed her frustration regarding the reluctance of her fellow natives in the Volta Region, particularly in her village of Abutia, to support the NPP in elections.
Madam Ohene insists that the party has consistently demonstrated its commitment to the development of the community.
During a visit where she accompanied the NPP Vice Presidential candidate, Dr Matthew Opoku Prempeh, to honour the Paramount Chief of Abutia on his 25th anniversary, Madam Ohene shared her views, emphasizing what she termed "the rants of a grandmother."
“Last time Napo was here, I pointed out a dilapidated school building in Abutia, and now we have a brand new six-classroom block equipped with additional facilities, thanks to his efforts,” she noted. Dr Prempeh as education minister facilitated the provision of a school bus for the Abutia secondary school.
Madam Ohene highlighted several projects that the community has received through the NPP, underscoring the importance of reciprocal support from the community.
“Politics is about development, and when a party continues to invest in an area, the least we can do is support that party with our votes,” she emphasized, urging community members to reconsider their voting decisions in light of the developmental benefits they have received.
The Paramount Chief of the Abutia Traditional area and President of Abutia Traditional Council, Togbega Abutia Kodzo Gidi V acknowledged the development his community has seen in his 25yrs rule as the paramount through the NPP administration and indicated there was the need to appreciate that. “I cannot deny how the NPP has developed Abutia and the call for support for the NPP is not out of place “he noted.
