The Bishop of the Cape Coast Anglican Diocese, the Right Reverend Daniel Allotey, has cut the sod for the construction of a 1.3-billion-cedi building for the St Michael and all Angels Church at Apam.
The 700 seat capacity building was being financed through offertory, harvests and personal contributions.
Addressing the congregation, Bishop Allotey urged the members to unite and pool their resources to build the Church.
He called on them to eschew apathy and selfishness and to cooperate with the Church leaders to complete the building on schedule.
Bishop Allotey appealed to the congregation to desist from gossiping and hatred and to concentrate on spreading the Gospel to win more souls for Jesus Christ.
The Reverend Father Nsiah Aryeh Isaac, in charge of Apam Parish said the construction of the new building had been necessitated by the fast growth of the Church.
He stated that the first phase of the building would be completed next year and appealed to foreign donors, non-governmental organisations and corporate bodies for assistance to complete the project.
Father Nsiah charged the building committee to adopt effective measures to solicit for funds and to collect the contribution of the congregation.
