Kwaku Ankrah, a 35-year-old farmer who allegedly slashed a driver with a knife and also removed an eye of his mate, has been remanded in prison custody until June 16 by the Asamankese Circuit Court.
Ankrah was charged with intentionally and unlawfully causing harm to Kwame Aboagye, the driver and Kwasi Dzivenu, the mate.
Police Chief Inspector Ben Nyonator, prosecuting, told the court presided over by Mr Kofi Akrowiah that on May 15 Aboagye was driving a cargo truck from Maaso to Asafo and on reaching a spot near Asafo at about 2000 hours he saw Ankrah standing in the middle of the road.
He said the driver blew his horn for him to give way but he refused.
The driver managed to drive past Ankrah and stopped nearby to question him what was happening to which he replied that he was waiting for a tractor that had caused damage to his harm.
When Ankrah was told that it was not right for him to have stood in the middle of the road at that time, he became annoyed and attacked Aboagye with a knife by slashing him at the back.
The accused went further to thrust the knife into the eye of Dzivenu, removing his left eyeball.
The victim is on admission at the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital in Accra.
