Ghana International Andre Ayew believes his side Swansea City’s performance at Manchester City last Saturday in the English Premier League can be a catalyst for picking up points in upcoming games.
A brave display from the Swans saw them denied a deserved point at the Etihad Stadium as Yaya Toure’s deflected strike earned the hosts victory.
The Swans, who had parted company with manager Garry Monk in midweek, had looked to be heading for a share of the spoils after sub Bafetimbi Gomis fired home a fierce equaliser in the 90th minute to cancel out Wilfried Bony’s first-half header.
Swansea now face back-to-back home matches with West Ham and West Brom either side of Christmas Day.
And Ayew feels the positives taken from this performance can provide a boost for the double header at the Liberty.
“We are very disappointed because we could have gone home with at least a point,” said the Ghanaian.
“We showed character and a lot of good things, but at the moment the most important thing is the points.
“But hopefully we can take the good things that we did today and use it for the next few games in front of us.”
He added: “It’s been a difficult week with Garry’s departure, because he had been at the club for so long and done so much for the club.
“We’re trying to move forward and get the results we need, and hopefully we can get out of this situation.
“City had more possession, but we had clear chances. We showed we can be very dangerous, but what is important is that you take your chances.”
