The Andani family has called on President Kufuor to use the time left for him in office to fulfil his promise of arresting and prosecuting the killers of the late Yaa Naa and other members of the family who perished with him.
This was contained in a communiqué issued after a grand family meeting to mark the 6th anniversary of the murder of the Yaa Naa.
Members of the family say they are unanimously disappointed in the way the criminal and traditional issues of the conflict had been handled by the government.
Joy FM’s Mahama Shaibu reported that the five-point communiqué called on the Otumfuo Committee to abandon its proposal to allow the funeral of late Ya Na Mahamadu Abdulai to be performed at the Gbewaa palace.
The Andanis said the proposal had no customary precedence.
The communiqué also called on the government not to support the Abudu family to occupy the old Gbewaa palace as that would amount to a declaration of war on the Andanis by the Abudus.
It said the current arrangement where the reagent was restrained from exercising his lawful authority should be reviewed as it had no legal or customary basis.
The Andanis cautioned politicians against unguarded statements and promises since that had the potential to jeopardize the peace of the area.
They pledged to co-operate with all relevant agencies and groups for lasting peace to return to Dagbon.
Still in Tamale, the family of Issah Mobila has asked the Attorney General to explain the delays in trying the suspected killers of Mobila.
Alhaji Mobila, onetime Northern Regional Chairman of the Convention People’s Party (CPP) allegedly died at the hands of military officers in Tamale.
The spokesperson of the family, Sahana Abubakar Abdul Latif told Joy News that he was told he would be called to give evidence during the trial.
But after years now he had not been called and the family had not heard anything about the trial.
“I believe justice is being denied”, he stated.
