As we all seek understanding about the current state of the world, we have found ourselves, more than ever, acting as a community — even while remaining socially distant.

After a lengthy hiatus in the new artist business, the R&B/Soul, Jazz and alternative label, Hidden Beach Recordings, marked its return with the announcement of its newest singer and songwriter, Gene Noble. and his memorable and timely track, “Too Many Lost (Stand Together Mix)” which is accompanied by a intriguing music video.

Inspired by the Covid-19 pandemic, "Too Many Lost (Stand Together Mix)" video raises awareness of and salutes not only healthcare workers on the frontline but all essential workers who constantly risk their lives for others.

The video and song call out injustices through lyrics such as "But you got guns and they're pointed at my sons" and "the powers that be all want us to divide when we should be standing side-by-side."

The R&B centric single produced by the multi-instrumentalist, Gorden Campbell, is the first track off Gene’s forth-coming Hidden Beach debut EP.

“An immensely talented singer and songwriter, we’re excited to have Gene be our first new artist after an absence working with new artists,” says CEO and Founder of Hidden Beach Recordings, Steve McKeever. “We’re particularly proud to share his talents at a time we feel society needs voices like Gene’s more than ever. Our core mission has always been providing a home to artists with something to say.”

Gene Noble said: “As a Ghanaian-American, I frequently seek out opportunities to connect people with our rich culture and encourage them to visit Ghana. I’ve always known music and art to be universal languages that can bridge nearly any gap and weather through many barriers.

"That said, when I began working at Hidden Beach Recordings, a truly historic label, known for artists like Jill Scott, Al B. Sure! and BeBe Winans, I knew that I wanted to make the connection between talented artists in the U.S. and talented artists back home in Ghana. We have always longed to have our offerings enjoyed on the continent of Africa, everyone’s homeland.”

Due to music commerce industry barriers, Steve McKeever, has found it challenging to expand into African nations.

“In 20 years, we have only enjoyed formal distribution arrangements in South Africa. This has been particularly frustrating as I know from frequent travel through the region, including Ghana, that our music has been enjoyed by the people there and would be much more so, if properly marketed and distributed,” he said.

He said after producing the “Too Many Lost (Stand Together Mix)” music video, it became very apparent to him that creating music with a global reach has the potential to give me more opportunities to spend time back home.

Gene, who has toured with artists like Usher, Shaggy, Chris Brown and Alicia Keys put a lot of love into this project and was excited by my desire to share it with my home country.

“I absolutely cannot wait to share my new music with the world! I’m particularly thankful to be able to utilize my platform to offer a powerful song and video that’s much bigger than me,” said Gene Noble.

While the visual zoomed in on the injustices and disparities within the United States, Gene could not help but recognise the global impact it could have.

He was very intentional with his messaging by naming the song “Stand Together Mix,” in that his overall desire was to bring people together with a unified call-to-action.

Gene Noble said, “there has never been a time where our actions are so connected to the lives and well-beings of our neighbors near and far. For black and brown people all over the diaspora, I hope this will be a unifying moment for us. The takeaway has to be that we must take care of each other and never assume that anyone else will.”
