Reverend Kumi Asuamah Yeboah, Assistant Director of Education in charge of Budget and Finance at Nkoranza has expressed concern about parents who attack and insult teachers for punishing their children.
He noted that this attitude had contributed to indiscipline among school children because their parents behaved in the full glare of children.
Addressing a Parent-Teacher-Association (PTA) meeting of Roman Catholic Junior Secondary School at Bonsu, Reverend Yeboah pointed out that the success of education depended on cordial relationship between teachers and parents.
He urged parents to refrain from such attitudes and rather support and encourage teachers whole heartedly to teach their children.
Rev. Yeboah advised parents to monitor activities of their children to prevent them from social vices.
John Kofi Amoah, Nkoranza District Education Examination Officer, advised pupils to choose programmes suitable for their careers in future.
He called on parents to collaborate with teachers to guide the children to choose programmes and schools suitable for them during their preparations towards Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE).
Fei Sakyi, Headmaster of the school said absenteeism and apathy by students towards their studies were major challenges facing the school.
Kwabena Effah-Musah, PTA Chairman appealed to parents to pay regular visits to the school to interact with school authorities on the performance of their children.
