Dr Cassiel Ato Forson, the Majority Leader in Parliament, has called on the Minority to exercise restraint and allow President John Dramani Mahama's newly sworn-in government the peace and space to govern effectively.
Addressing a press conference in Parliament on Tuesday, 21 January 2025, Dr Forson urged the opposition to focus on constructive engagement rather than premature criticisms.
“The Mahama administration is barely two weeks old, yet it has already been inundated with unwarranted attacks from the Minority. I appeal to our colleagues on the other side to grant the government the necessary breathing space to steer the affairs of this country. Let us work together to build a better Ghana,” Dr Forson stated emphatically.
The Majority Leader emphasised that President Mahama's government has demonstrated a clear vision for addressing national challenges and implementing policies aimed at economic recovery and social cohesion.
He further noted that while dissent is an essential part of democracy, the opposition must avoid actions that could derail national progress or destabilise governance.
“The government has laid out a comprehensive roadmap to address the economic and social issues confronting our nation. Let us allow it to implement its policies without undue interference,” he added.
Dr Forson concluded by expressing confidence in the government’s ability to deliver on its mandate, urging all stakeholders to support the administration in its quest to fulfil the aspirations of Ghanaians.
