The trial of a 35-year-old wedding MC, Rashid Anaata is set to enter a crucial phase as he prepares to open his defense after defilement charges were brought against him.
State prosecutors have managed to establish a prima facie case of defilement against him, leading to an intense 10-day trial that has captured the attention of the public.
The accused, Rashid Anaata, is facing allegations of defiling 12 minors within the Wa municipality over the past two years.
Anaata, however, maintains his innocence and has consistently denied all charges against him.
According to a report by Upper West regional correspondent, Rafiq Salam, the video that triggered the case and caught the public's attention was tendered in evidence by the Upper West regional office of the Attorney General Department led by the principal state attorney.
The video, which entailed the victims, narrating their ordeal was played in court. After that, five witnesses; three of the victims, a medical doctor, and an investigator testified.
The Presiding Judge, in his evaluation of the case revealed that a prima facie case has been established against the accused person and that he is called upon to open his defense, next week.
