Black Meteors coach Malik Jabir has laid the blame of his team’s awful showing at the All African Games at the doorstep of all Ghanaians.
The Meteors continued their poor showing at the tournament with 0-2 defeat against Nigeria's Dream Team on Wednesday, meaning the Ghanaians have now gone 180 minutes without scoring a goal.
Jabir refused to accept full responsibility for the horror show, which began with a tepid 0-0 draw with Senegal at the weekend.
“Ghanaians disappointed me first. They should have helped me to train the team well. They didn’t do, so it is nobody’s fault,” he told Joy Sports.
When asked about he referred to as Ghanaians, the coach was evasive. “I don’t know who [I am referring to]. Who brought me here? Tell me who. You know we have been ruled, managed and brought here.”
“If we had started earlier and done proper arrangements with our training and preparations, we could have played better.”
The Meteors must now rely on the Nigerians to beat Senegal by at least three goals to give them a chance of defending the medal they won four years ago.
