President of Kumasi-based King Faisal Football Club, Alhaji Karim Grusah, has expressed concern about the level of officiating of football matches, especially, during the Premiership.
Alhaji Gruzah has therefore called on the football authorities to evolve strategies to develop the sport in the country adding that football in the country was fast improving but it is only the level of officiating which is a bit disturbing at certain levels.
The president of the club was answering questions at a press conference in Kumasi on Wednesday to introduce Mr. Vincent Sowah Odotei, the new chief executive of the club, the management members and newly assigned players.
Alhaji Gruzah alleged that because of manoeuvres by some big clubs at the Premier League level, match officials are able to deny smaller clubs of winning their matches by open robbery and this he noted did not help sports development in the country.
He however, stressed that King Faisal was poised to win the 2008/9 Premiership with the registration of newly recruited players including Baba Armando who would combine with the old players to ensure victory for the club.
Alhaji Gruzah said that the club has a vision of supporting the development of football in the country and that with his one year ban now over, he would continue to point out the good and bad incidents that might tend to impede sports development in the country.
Mr. Odotei gave the assurance that the club would glitter this year with the support of the new management team in the club and urged all supporters and well wishers who have the love and success of the club at heart to offer their maximum cooperation and support.
He said he would do his best to mobilise the support base of the club to enable it achieve the needed success and glory.
“I am going to organize the supporters so that they will become attractive partners of the club. So, let us do things that will encourage soccer enthusiasts to switch to our camp”, he added.
