Former President John Dramani Mahama says although President Akufo-Addo gave Ghanaians a lot of hope, he failed to deliver on promises made in the NPP's 2016 manifesto.
The flag bearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) who was wrapping up a tour of the Bono East Region ahead of the December polls said the development has caused the citizenry to be disappointed in the Akufo-Addo administration.
Speaking on Woezor TV, the presidential aspirant accused the government of making promises when it had no intention of fulfilling them.
"He raised expectations so high but was very low on delivery.
"You can see people feel disappointed in his administration saying this democracy is not working for them," he said.
Touting his achievements, the flagbearer said he had more to show for his tenure than the governing government.
“My opponent comes nowhere near me in terms of my record.
"I built schools, I built hospitals, I repaired the roads. We expanded Tema ports. We built terminal three and the University of Ghana Medical Hospital," John Mahama stressed.
He used the platform to reiterate the pledge by his government to execute all promises found in the NDC's 2020 manifesto.
The three-day tour by Mr. Mahama ended with a visit to about 11 constituencies and several interactions with traditional rulers, opinion leaders, organised labour, supporters, members, and activists of the NDC.
