John Alan Kwadwo Kyerematen, who also contested with Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and others for the mandate to lead the New Patriotic Party to this year's elections, has indicated that as President John Agyekum Kufuor prepares to exit the Presidency, there is the urgent need for a successor who has the ability to take critical, decisive and courageous decisions to push the nation's development agenda to a pedestal that will make more positive impact in the lives of the people. He has therefore cautioned the electorate against the temptation of voting to entrust their destiny in the hands of a person who lacks the requisite courage and confidence to stand on his own feet to take critical decisions that will accelerate the nation’s development. In the words of the former NPP presidential aspirant, "Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo is the most courageous man at the moment that the nation needs to take over the Presidency after the exit of President Kufuor." Mr Kyerematen was addressing separate durbars of the chiefs and people of the Krachie East and West, Nkwanta South and North, and Akan constituencies, in the northern part of the Volta Region. The durbars were organized in honour of Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, NPP Presidential candidate, as part of activities marking his 'journey to conquer’ the Volta Region in the December general elections. The former NPP flag bearer aspirant described Nana Akufo-Addo as a well accomplished politician and a statesman who has over the years shown exceptional commitment towards the nation’s political and social-economic development, stressing "that is why all of us are convinced that he has been well-groomed to lead the nation to the next level of her development from where President Kufuor will end." Also in the company of the flagbearer were Kyeremateng Boakye Agyarko, a former flagbearer aspirant, Steven Ayensu Ntim, former National First Vice Chairman of the party, Gloria Akuffo, former Minister of Aviation and Joseph Kweku Nayan, Deputy Volta Regional Minister and the only NPP MP in the region. Alan Kyerematen, who was overwhelmed by the massive crowd that poured out to listen to the NPP flagbearer, urged the people in the region to make an objective analysis of the track records of the NPP and the NDC Governments’ development programmes and make a sincere decision in terms of which party deserves their vote in the December elections. He was convinced that any critical and objective analysis in that respect would lead to the conclusion that the NPP Government had done more than enough to deserve the electoral support of the people in the region. "The development projects we have undertaken are unprecedented in the history of the nation. Don’t be swayed by the NDC’s vain promises. We have already been providing you with the things they are promising, and this is why this time around, you have to join us in the victory march we are undertaking," he charged the enthusiastic party supporters. Alan Kyerematen predicted a massive victory for the NPP in the December elections, stressing that the victory would be so convincing and total that it would silent the opposition National Democratic Congress. Boakye Agyarko told the people that the December election was a critical decision about the future of the nation and that was why it was important to elect somebody who could secure their future well-being. He described the NPP as a group that does not discriminate in the sharing of the national cake, adding that projects are not distributed on the basis of which people support the party or not. According to the former NPP presidential aspirant, "things have changed. Volta region has also changed and that is why you must also change and support the NPP to victory in December". The NPP Presidential Candidate ended the second phase of his "Journey to Conquer" the Volta Region yesterday at Kedjebi, capital of the Akan constituency, after addressing a durbar of the chiefs and people which attracted a record high patronage.
