Former Deputy Communications Minister, Felix Kwakye Ofosu has said that President Akufo-Addo, since assumption of office, has never shown any interest in fighting corruption in the country.
Citing a number of corruption cases such as the PPA scandal, the Australian visa scandal among others, which have not been prosecuted, Kwakye Ofosu said the President has refused to hold any member of his administration to account.
Speaking on Upfront, on Wednesday, he said the President does not believe in the rule of law and has engaged in a “terrible mal-administration.”
“How is it that A.B. Agyenim Agyei, the former PPA boss who was caught on tape engaging in acts bordering on criminality, why is it that the law is respecting him? Why is the law respecting the BOST Movenpina scandal perpetrators? Why is the law respecting the NYA former director and his deputies who breached our procurement laws with impunity? Why has President Akufo-Addo not prosecuted Boakye Agyarko for the financial loss he caused in the matter of GPGC? So President Akufo-Addo has never been interested in fighting corruption. He has never believed in the rule of law,” he said on Upfront.
He argued that rather, the President and his administration have resorted to intimidating the opposition NDC.
He assured that the NDC will relentlessly hold the government accountable without any fear of intimidation.
“It has everything and anything to do with intimidating the opposition so that the President can have his way but we have a message for the President. We are not about to become accomplices to his mal-administration and his misrule. We will not be intimidated by this and he can arrest as many NDC MPs and prominent personalities as he wants, nobody will stop opposing him to the hills as we have done all these years. So we are not going to become tamed accomplices,” he added.
