Agromonti Company Limited held a major Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) event in Techiman, Bono East Region, on October 23, 2024, aiming to empower local farmers through education on sustainable agricultural practices.
The event drew over 800 farmers and stakeholders, including representatives from the Ministry of Food and Agriculture and numerous mango growers associations.
Participants included members from associations like the Sunyani Mango Growers, Techiman Mango Growers, Wiench Mango Farmers, Atebubu Mango Farmers, Nkuranza Mango Farmers, AMONA Kintampo, PPEDCO, Anidaso Mango Growers, Northwest Mango Growers, Sawla Tuna Kalba Mango Growers, and PANDU.
The gathering highlighted the importance of equipping farmers with accurate information to support sustainable agriculture and economic growth.
Mr. Stephen Aidoo, the Municipal Director of the Department of Agriculture, opened the event, thanking Agromonti for supporting the ministry’s mission to advance sustainable agriculture.
He noted the ministry’s dedication to enhancing agribusiness through research, technology, and extension services.
Mr. Aidoo praised Agromonti’s role in educating farmers on pesticide safety, best practices, and sustainable techniques.
Agromonti’s Managing Partner and Technical Director, Dominic Donkoh, and Country Sales Manager, Mathew Essuah, explained that the event aligns with Agromonti’s CSR goal of empowering farmers with vital knowledge to improve productivity and promote sustainable growth.
Key partners like Dr. Joseph Honger, a plant pathologist from the University of Ghana, Ernest Ablor, Chief Agronomist from Blueskies, and Kingsley Adade from Syngenta Global, presented on topics such as best practices in agriculture, sustainable farming, and safe pesticide use.
As part of its support, Agromonti donated items worth GH¢500,000, including 10 television sets, various agrochemicals, and souvenirs to farmers’ associations and individual participants.
Farmer representative Mr Duffour expressed gratitude to Agromonti for funding the event and providing meals and transportation for participants.
He appreciated the training, noting its positive impact on agricultural productivity and livelihoods.
The guest of honour, Rev. Kwame Acheampong, encouraged farmers to uphold integrity in their practices and adhere strictly to safety protocols when using pesticides.
Mr Aidoo closed by thanking Agromonti for collaborating with the Ministry of Food and Agriculture to empower farmers.
Agromonti CEO Mr. Benjamin Offei urged farmers to apply the techniques learned and share them with others, fostering a community rooted in safety, sustainability, and progress.
“Together, we can create a future where agriculture thrives sustainably, benefiting not just individual farms but entire communities,” he said.
The event concluded with Agromonti reiterating its commitment to support farmers through innovative products and continuous educational efforts.
