Agogo set to join European club

Ghana striker Junior Agogo is reported to be signing for a club in Europe in the next few hours. Ghanasoccernet says Agogo arrived in Cyprus last night and that sources say he will sign for Cypriot club Apollon Limassol. Even though he did not elaborate on which club he is joining he told Ghanasoccernet: "I am signing." The proposed deal bodes well for Agogo who has been left out of several Black Stars matches in recent times because of lack of action. The deal will help him regain his match fitness and also help Ghana in their bid to reach a second successive World Cup. The deal means Agogo will end his exile from club action after a futile venture into African football by signing for Egyptian giants Zamalek. He fell out with the Cairo club after he was accused of being indifferent towards the club and slapped with huge fines. Agogo moved to Forest from Bristol Rovers signing a three-year deal in August 2006 for an undisclosed fee. He scored 13 goals as Forest won promotion from League One last term. The former Barnet and QPR forward has become a regular in the Ghana side during his time at Forest and starred for the Black Stars in the Africa Cup of Nations earlier this year. Agogo was Ghana's leading scorer in the 2010 World Cup qualifying campaign with four goals but Matthew Amoah has now taken over. He was dropped for the April game against Benin after he went on strike at Zamalek. Agogo was recalled to play against Sudan and Mali but has been left out of next week's friendly against Zambia.
