Attorney General, Godfred Yeboah Dame says he may have no option than to drag a member of the FixTheCountry campaign, Barker Vormawor, to court for contempt if he fails to desist from making certain comments.
This follows a post by Mr. Vormawor who uses the Facebook handle, Barker H Vogues on Monday morning.
While the AG was arguing a matter in court, the member of the group took to his page to write"“Neho! Godfred Dame just stepped into court. The puppet master reveals himself”; a statement that did not sit well with the lawyer.
Mr. Dame was in court to argue a case in which the Republic is seeking to restrain the FixTheCountry campaigners from embarking on a street protest. The campaigners have in the last few weeks demanded better conditions of living for Ghanaians and further indicated a desire to pour onto the street to demonstrate.
Lawyers for the group on Monday raised series of objections against the AG’s presence in the matter.
At the end of the legal arguments, Mr. Dame read to the court the Facebook post which he said had just been sent to him.
He described it as inappropriate and something the court must take note of. He advised the lawyers for the campaigners to caution their clients from such commentary.
Justice Ruby Aryeetey urged the AG to develop a thick skin and ignore such comments. Mr. Dame responded that he has a thick skin but was raising the matter because the said individual is a party in the present case before the court.
He added that he will initiate contempt proceedings against persons who make such posts that do not help the work of the court.
On their part, a member of the legal team for the campaigners, Tara Kosi Foliba told the court, they will advise their clients.
Meanwhile, Mr. Vormawor has since posted again. This time, he is daring the AG to proceed and carry out his threat. He insists he will be prepared to defend himself if such an action is taken.
