Hopes of another Ghanaian firm listing on the London Stock Exchange by the close of this year has been dashed.
This follows calls by the shareholders of local tissue manufacturer, African Champion Industries, formally Super Paper Product Company Limited to halt the process for now and consider listing possibly by June next year.
The company wanted to list on the London Stock Exchange to give its foreign investors an opportunity to actively trade in its stock and also inject more funds into the business.
According to the shareholders the company’s current position does not warrant such an ambitious move.
George Sas, a shareholder of African Champion Industries told Joy Business the company must not be in a haste to list on the London Stock Exchange.
But Board Chair of the firm, Elkin Pianim tells Joy Business the shareholders' concerns have been considered.
According to him, they have gotten the approval to list on the London Stock Exchange but will hold on until the appropriate time.
The shareholders however approved take-over of four entities; Industries Aggregates, Volta Cars Rental Services, Vanfred Mining and Atlantic Works as part of plans to diversify.
