As anticipation builds for the 10th edition of the Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards, organisers have announced this year’s award categories nominees.

The nominee announcement aired on Sunday on all Africa Magic channels, stirring excitement among fans across the continent.

The awards ceremony, celebrating excellence in African film and television, is slated to take place on the 10th and 11th of May.

Busola Tejumola, executive head of Content and Channels, West Africa, MultiChoice, said, ‘‘The quality of entries received was simply outstanding, and the jury cut their work out for them in shortlisting the nominees. This year’s lineup is exceptional, reflecting the diversity and creativity prevalent in African cinema and television, and we can’t wait to celebrate them’’.

The performance awards have undergone streamlining this year; they now fall under the categories of Best Actor and Best Actress in a leading or supporting role.

There are now 27 categories, 16 non-voting, nine audience voting categories, and two recognition awards – Lifetime Achievement and Trailblazer Awards. The AMVCA panel of judges headed by ace filmmaker Femi Odugbemi will decide the non-voting categories.

The voting window is open until 28 April, allowing fans to support and honour the outstanding talent showcased throughout the year. You can vote on the Africa Magic website.
