The Jospong Group, through its subsidiary Africa Environmental Sanitation Consult (AfESC), has signed an MoU with the University of Environment and Sustainable Development (UESD) to advance collaborative research initiatives in sustainable environmental development.
The MoU sets the foundation for future collaboration between AfESC and UESD, aiming to establish a network focused on research and education in environmental sustainability.
It outlines various activities to foster collaboration, including:
• Joint research and teaching initiatives;
• Exchange programs for staff and students;
• Joint research activities and grant applications;
• Organization of seminars and courses by mutual agreement;
• Exchange of information, documentation, and scientific publications;
• Support for student industrial placements and assessments;
• Other activities of mutual interest.
Speaking at the MoU signing, Professor Eric Nyarko-Sampson, Vice-Chancellor of UESD, expressed enthusiasm, highlighting the importance of such partnerships for a young institution like UESD.
He noted that this collaboration aligns with UESD’s mission to produce graduates skilled in environmental and sustainable development who will act as agents of change.
Dr. Abena N. Asomaning, Managing Director of AfESC, echoed this sentiment, stating, “To build capacity and meet the research needs of the Jospong Group, we have been seeking credible institutions to collaborate with.
"We recognised the synergy between AfESC and UESD, and we look forward to leveraging their resources in advancing environmental sustainability.”

• University of Environment and Sustainable Development (UESD): UESD is a public university located in Somanya, Ghana, established in 2015 and inaugurated in 2020. It aims to be a centre of excellence in environmental and sustainable development education and research, with a mission to cultivate graduates who drive positive environmental change.
