Former Ghana coach Otto Addo has suggested the Black Stars could face a much easier test in playing Egypt than Cape Verde or Mozambique.
Ghana is Group B for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) where they are joined by Egypt, Cape Verde and Mozambique.
The Black Stars will open their campaign in Ivory Coast against Cape Verde on January 14 before facing Egypt and Mozambique in that order.
Ghana and Egypt have tipped to be the two teams to make it out of the group on paper with many anticipating a tough fixture when the two teams play.
However, Addo, who led Ghana to the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar believes that fixture could be one that Ghana sails through easily.
"I think the easiest game may be against Egypt because their team is very well-balanced. They are the favourites in this game so it is easier to stand behind when people don’t expect too much from you," he told GTV Sports+.
"It’s easier than to play the so-called small countries which are football educated, know how to defend and it will be very, very tough to break them down.
"Once we score a goal against these countries, it gets easier. It’s a long way and it's hard work."
The Black Stars are currently camping in Kumasi as part of preparations for the tournament and will play a friendly game against Namibia.
