Nigeria midfielder Alex Iwobi has deleted all his posts on Instagram after being bullied on social media by Nigerians following the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations final.
The Fulham midfielder has just one video left on his official account on the social media application after coming under heavy criticism. The video was shared ten weeks ago, and the comment section remains locked.
After going unbeaten through their first six games in the competition, the Super Eagles fell short against Cote d'Ivoire in Sunday's final in Abidjan.
William Troost-Ekong opened the scoring for the Super Eagles before second-half strikes from Franck Kessie and Sebastien Haller sealed the win for the host nation.
Iwobi, one of the few players being bullied on social media, played 79 minutes of Sunday's final with Nigeria failing to add to their three AFCON trophies.
Alhassan Yusuf came on for the former Arsenal man with the score at 1-1 before Haller's strike in the 81st minute.
